This is a factory-sealed polar lights 1:25 scale gas ronda's mustang funny car plastic model kit (item #6506). Paint & cement are not included. This is a kit and assembly is required. Skill 3 (recommended age 12+).Contents include: all plastic pieces to complete model, slixx decal sheet, plus pictorial instruction sheet describing assembly.Gas ronda's dream car: a competitor's worse nightmareby the time he introduced his '69 mach i/cammer, gaspar "gas" ronda was a will-recognized veteran on the drag racing scene, starting as a stock driver in 1951 and moving into the f/c ranks in 1966 with the first injected, fuel-burning funny car (also a mustang) to run in the eight-second bracket.Ronda selected a logghe stage ii chassis with a 120-inch wheelbase for the mach i and mounted the sohc engine only 52 inches ahead of the fully chromed ford rear end. Engine prep was masterfully handled by ed pink and there were two gas used: a stock displacement 427 with a crankshaft company crank or a 484 powerhouse with a moldex half-inch stroker. Pink used forgedtrue pistons on m/t rods to produce compression ratios of 7.5:1 in the 427 and 8.75:1 om tje 484. Crane 612a cams operated donovan 2.25 inch exhaust valves through ed pink's rollerized rocker arms. Cast iron heads were generally run on the engines unless gas decided to bolt on the aluminum heads to take advantage of the 88-pound weight difference. A cragar drive powered the pink-prepared 6-71 blower at 30% over crank speed to carry the fuel mixture from the hilborn injectors to be fired by the cirello mag and autolite plugs. Cyclone headers completed the engine's breathing package.The mach i's surgically clean interior featured plenty of chrome and blue anodized aluminum work by al bergler, black leather upholstery by stylecraft of covina, and rac instruments.
