Description* :
This auction is for a pair of rochester h/hv modified corvair carburetors to replace the secondary h carburetors on your 140 hp monza and corsa engines from 1965 to 1969. I am offering these for those of you who are frustrated with the seemingly endless problems associated with using the stock secondary carburetors. While the chevrolet folks tried several modifications to alleviate owner complaints with the secondary units after they arrived on the scene in 1965, the carbs still have some built in design issues. There are 4 different linkage designs that were attempts to fix problems of rough and fast idle, delays, sticking, bogging and flooding. I have friends who have done extensive on-the-car research and testing with me to come up with a good solution. I have sold hundreds of these with excellent results and received many thank-you letters. Some experienced drivers think that secondary carb problems contribute to the dreaded dropped valve seats by quenching the cylinders with a slug of cold gas when they come "un-stuck" under power. You will not have to make any linkage changes to install these. These carburetors have modified bowls with stock secondary tops. This eliminates the need to plug any holes and circuits that are not needed that could cause air leaks. They have idle mixture and idle speed adjustments like primary carburetors, but do not have chokes. I build them with appropriate sized venturi clusters with small idle emulsion tubes so they won't overwhelm the engine at idle. Once they are set, they are good until time for your next rebuild. No more worry about stickthrottle plates or wandering idle as i install new stainless steel accelerator pump levers and pump rods to eliminate all the wear in the carb linkage system. All parts, including the accelerator pumps are ethanol-proof. Those with 1966 and later carburetors will no longer have to fiddle with adjustments to your secondary lockout levers, as the carbs will be available for you when you ... Read More
