Description* :
Starrett # 20 1-1/2" precision hardened steel square. Never used and only originally purchased to be collected and stored. Has no signs of wear and has never been used. The box and case may have a slight odor of fine pipe tobacco to some people and as a non-smoker i smell only a very slight odor of sweet pipe tobacco. Not on the tool. This tool was purchased by my old friend (of 45 years) the starrett tool collector. Out of hundreds of tools he only actually used about 10% of them. All of his tools were kept in a climate controlled, immaculate workshop with all cased tools kept in many kennedy tool boxes, large and small. Rarely did my friend remove the oil that came from the starrett factory and there is no oil residue on this piece. He smoked fine, custom blend pipe tobaccos and an occasional sherman cigarette. Most all of his tools were admired, fondled lightly once in a while, sometimes oiled lightly and inspected for storage wear. An admirer of finely crafted items, he was an eclectic, eccentric, and a fastidious tool collector. He didn't care what i thought or you thought or what anyone thought about the fact that he purchased 100's of tools that he properly stored and never used.......May he rest in peace! I use terms like "nos", "used", "near mint", "mib"(mint in box), "mint", "never been used" and "vintage" as honestly and literally as i know how. I rarely clean or wipe oil from an item cuz i think the old oil being there was a good thing and still is. I am capable of making mistakes and if you think i have incorrectly labelled or mis-described an item please let me know, not ebay. As always, i will happily refund your purchase amount in full if you are not happy for any reason with any item. Please bid knowing that i will refund your purchase amount for any reason you choose.Have a happy bid!
